Smoothie in a bag + 10 great smoothie recipes
This is our go-to item on the breakfast menu. There isn’t hardly a morning in the casa where the blender isn’t whirling. I have found that if we have complete “bags” of smoothie ingredients ready to go and frozen, my kids are much more likely to get some solid nutrition first thing in the day. My usual staples in each bag are: Non-fat Greek Yogurt, berries, spinach & honey. I use a funnel to fill the plastic freezer bags. The one thing I don’t add is the liquid. I run the frozen bag under hot water for a few minutes to soften, then throw the contents in the blender.
The great thing about adding spinach to drinks is that it packs a huge nutritional punch, and the kids can’t taste it once the smoothie is blended. I often add protein powder, Acai berry juice or pomegranate juice, or of course, water. Any of these can be added to the following Renegade recipes.
